Designing and Engineering Smart, Sustainable Buildings

Beca has worked on some of the most iconic – and sustainable – buildings across Jakarta’s skyline. Our electrical, mechanical and sustainability consulting services teams collaborated on Sequis Tower, a LEED Platinum certified office building that consumes 36% less energy and 30% less potable water than standard buildings, while achieving 90% waste diversion during construction.

And we provided smart buildings engineering and EPCM services for World Trade Centre 3, working closely with local and New Zealand teams to ensure resilient and futureproofed building services for this landmark 42‑storey tower.


Bringing Digital Innovation to Large-Scale Manufacturing

Using advanced digital tools, including BIM and virtual reality, Beca helped modernise the Coca‑Cola Amatil Indonesia plant in Medan. We delivered a new PET production line that increased output by over 68% and deployed laser scanning and 360° image capture to build accurate “as‑built” models. VR was essential during the design phase to coordinate complex engineering requirements and ensure smoother, faster construction with minimal re‑work.


Elevating Shopping, Living and Economic Opportunities

In Surabaya, we applied our mechanical and electrical engineering expertise in the expansion of one of Indonesia’s largest mixed-use developments, Tunjungan Plaza 6. Our work supported the integration of residential, office, retail and parking facilities in twin towers rising above a 13-storey podium.

By carefully relocating existing plant rooms without disrupting daily operations, we helped ensure the development was delivered smoothly and efficiently. For residents, the result is a modern, convenient living environment with direct access to shopping, dining and entertainment. And for the local economy, Tunjungan Plaza 6 contributes to ongoing urban renewal, attracts investment, and supports job creation within one of East Java’s fastest-growing cities.


Delivering Sustainable Solutions in Minerals & Metals



In Indonesia’s nickel sector, we’ve partnered extensively with PT Vale Indonesia, a major mining company, at their Sorowako site. Beca conducted an energy optimisation study for three ore dryers, identifying seven high-impact options to improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions that contribute to climate change.

We also delivered a detailed carbon‑footprinting assessment to establish a baseline of Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions, helping PT Vale’s head office team meet government Green PROPER standards and global reporting targets.

Beca has further managed multiple furnace rebuild projects for PT Vale since 1997 and most recently in 2022, rebuilding electric arc furnaces with EPPM and construction management. Effective shutdown management shortened shutdown durations to a minimum, and planning is underway for the next rebuild in 2025.


Supporting Clean Geothermal Energy Development

Beca is a strategic partner in uncovering Indonesia’s vast geothermal potential. We have joined forces with Earth Sciences NZ to accelerate geothermal energy development under the Indonesia–Aotearoa New Zealand Geothermal Energy Programme. With Indonesia targeting 9.3 GW of geothermal generation by 2035, this collaboration brings our geotechnical focus and engineering expertise to support the country’s energy transition away from fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.
