This year, we were pleased to award the University of Auckland Beca Rotary Scholarship to nine young engineering students undertaking their Bachelor of Engineering.

The awards ceremony was held at Beca House, following Beca’s 25+ year legacy of celebrating the achievements of future leaders in engineering from the University of Auckland.

The Beca scholarship programme, established in 2005, was set up to support outstanding academic achievement, contribution to society and the wider community, and leadership ability of talented students.

"It was an absolute pleasure to once again be involved in the selection and awarding of the Beca Rotary University of Auckland Engineering Scholarships," says Jon Williams, Beca’s General Manger – Digital Transformation. “It’s fantastic to see the wide talent and passion of young engineers, and we’re excited to encourage and support them in their career and be a part of their journey.

The recipients of the 2022 scholarships were as follows:

Beca Part II Engineering Scholarship valued at $3,000

  • Shalini Ranasinghe - Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical
  • Henissa Tong - Bachelor of Engineering, Mechatronics
  • Anya Pearce - Bachelor of Engineering, Biomedical
  • Tamsin Holmes - Bachelor of Engineering, Mechatronics
  • Gauri Raj - Bachelor of Engineering, Software

Beca Part IV Engineering Scholarship valued at $3,500

  • Iris Liu - Bachelor of Engineering, Mechatronics
  • Rey Karaitiana - Bachelor of Engineering, Chemical and Materials
  • Divya Jose - Bachelor of Engineering, Civil

Beca and Rotary Club of Auckland Scholarship valued at $6,000 presented personally by the Rotary Club President Kristen Flannery was awarded to Emily Steiner - Bachelor of Engineering, Mechatronics.

"It was an honor to offer the nine scholarships again in 2022 and to welcome such future talent into the engineering sector," says Jon.

Together with their partners, family and friends, the recipients celebrated with Beca team members and Auckland University Engineering staff. Congratulations to all recipients, we look forward to seeing you flourish in your engineering career.
