Beca grows energy business with Mark Mundell as Technical Director

We’re pleased to appoint Mark Mundell, an accomplished electrical engineer with 22 years of international and national experience, as a Technical Director for Power based in our Wellington office.

Mark joins Beca from Transpower, a client of Beca’s for 25 years. He started as an Operational Protection & Automation Engineer, then moved into project engineering, and most recently led a team of project managers as a National Delivery Manager for Investigations.

"I decided this year that I would make a change and focus on being creative, solving problems and getting more variety in my work. I had worked with the Beca team on projects before as a client, so I already knew they have a broad community of practitioners and an awesome culture," Mark said.

"With the current focus on accelerating electrification and improving the overall energy mix in New Zealand and Australia, there are a lot of exciting energy opportunities to bring to reality in the future."

Mark originally hails from the UK, where he spent 10 years working on substation projects for National Grid. Mark had two years in Melbourne with Jacobs before deciding to call Wellington home, in 2016.

Peter McCafferty, General Manager Power says the hire is part of our projected growth to meet the demand of the energy market.

"Mark is an asset to our business with his incredible experience working in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The future of energy is full of possibility. Through appointments like Mark’s, we’re making the energy transition a reality for our clients and communities," Peter said.

Beca has been supporting energy clients for over 25 years on renewables and transmission projects. We continue to work on the crucial energy projects that will enable the Net Zero goals of New Zealand and Australia and make everyday better for our clients and communities.
