On 4 March, the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) released its annual Gender Pay Gap (GPG) data for private organisations in Australia with 100 or more employees, including Beca.
This marks the second consecutive year of public disclosure, a significant step toward greater transparency and accountability in addressing gender pay equity.Whilst it positive to see some improvement in our GPG across Beca and Beca HunterH2O for the 2023-2024 reporting year, continuing this trend and achieving equity remain central priorities for Beca.
“We are focused on increasing the representation of women, particularly in senior leadership roles,” Andrew Mailer, Managing Director – Australia explains.
Beca actively monitors its progress through internal measurements with a focus on strategies that support the recruitment, retention, and promotion of women across our organisation including our onboarding, performance and remuneration processes. We also have an active Gender@Beca team who work to support and promote the focus on valuing difference and belonging at Beca, including hosting activities to improve the representation and connectedness of females and partnering with high schools to inspire students to consider STEM careers.
To support these efforts, in 2024 a female Sponsorship program was piloted in Australia with 12 females from our mid career levels participating in the 6 month program. This program combined integrated sponsorship with leadership development and unlike traditional programs that focus solely on skill enhancement, a unique feature of the program is the critical role of sponsorship in career advancement.
These initiatives reflect Beca’s broader strategy to drive real change and create an inclusive environment where all employees can thrive.
The full list of gender-focused initiatives is detailed in the Beca Australia Employer Statement, which will soon be published alongside the company’s GPG data on the WGEA website.
“By prioritising gender equity, we are not only addressing pay gaps but also reinforcing our commitment to a workplace that values fairness, inclusion, and opportunity for all,” Andrew concludes.
