Beca’s Rachel Fowler recognised at Consult Australia Awards for Excellence

Beca was proud to be recognised at the prestigious 2022 Consult Australia Awards for Excellence, with Rachel Fowler – our Australian General Manager Transport & Infrastructure ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Champions of Change: Female Leadership’ category.

Held as a gala dinner at The Eveleigh Sydney on Thursday March 23, Rachel Fowler was recognised for her tireless work in growing our Australian Transport & Infrastructure business. Since becoming General Manager in April 2019, the business has evolved into a respected, 135+ strong team with a reputation for excellence in project delivery and customer care.

Rachel also actively makes everyday better for her team, levelling the playing field by championing part-time work for both female and male employees. In her spare time, she’s involved in numerous extra-curricular activities, including as NSW Representative for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) where she supports young professionals in developing their Civil Engineering careers. 

Under her watch, Beca has secured significant, noteworthy projects – including Melbourne Airport’s Third Runway, the Maribyrnong River Bridge Package of Melbourne Airport Rail and the Swanson Dock West Remediation.

In reflecting on her incredible accolade, Rachel said “I’m honoured to be recognised by Consult Australia as a Highly Commended Female Leader in the engineering profession. Throughout my career I’ve been determined that people be recognised for what they contribute and be supported to achieve their professional aspirations regardless of their gender, age, family circumstances, or the hours they work.  

I’m proud of my Australian Transport & Infrastructure team, the supportive culture we’ve established and the great work we do. We thrive on making everyday better for each other, for our clients and the communities in which we work.”

Her words were echoed by Beca Australia Managing Director Craig Lee who added “I’m very proud of our recognition at this year’s Consult Australia Awards. Rachel’s commendation as a female champion of change is testament to her tenacity and dedication, building our Australian Transport & Infrastructure business into a respected practice that delivers complex infrastructure projects that help shape Australian communities”.

We’d also like to recognise Luke Huxtable, Associate – Civil Engineering in our Australian Airports team who was a finalist in the Future Leader category.
