Celebrating ACES Award winners for 10 consecutive years

Congratulations to Beca senior electrical engineers, Nigelina Peh and Alden Chia, who have received the prestigious Association for Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES), Young Consulting Engineer of the Year award. This marks the 10th consecutive year that Beca engineers have won this award.

The ACES Young Consulting Engineer of the Year award recognises young engineers in Singapore who have consistently demonstrated exceptional engineering skills, design expertise and unwavering commitment to their profession. 

Recognised at the ACES Gala Dinner on 1 August 2023 in front of over 700 industry guests, Nigelina and Alden were the exclusive winners in the Electrical Engineer category, having contributed significantly to challenging projects and demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities.

Nigelina has been actively involved in significant undertakings such as the Changi General Hospital and Alexandra Integrated General Hospital's Extra Low Voltage (ELV) package. She led the ELV design for both hospital projects, demonstrating her remarkable technical prowess and her ability to establish strong client relationships.

Alden has played a key role in major projects, including the redevelopment of Liang Court and the upcoming Punggol Digital District, where he adeptly addressed multiple design changes, applying problem-solving skills to optimise project time and costs while meeting diverse stakeholders' requirements.

Reflecting on his achievements, Alden shared, "I am honored to receive this recognition and will use it as motivation to continue to learn, grow, and make everyday better through my work."

When asked for advice to her fellow aspiring engineers, Nigelina said, "As engineers, we often encounter complex challenges in the projects that we handle. The rule of thumb in problem-solving is to recognise that even the most difficult problems are just multiple small problems combined."
