Beca appoints new General Manager for Project Strategy and Delivery Business

Beca is excited to announce the appointment of Johnny McFarlane as its new General Manager for the Project Strategy and Delivery business.
Johnny brings strategic leadership, commercial governance and large-scale programme experience from his 20-year career in New Zealand, Australia and England.

“I am very humbled and excited about leading our Project Strategy and Delivery team as part of our growing Advisory Business. Our focus is to help our clients solve problems and deliver projects to build a resilient, sustainable and equitable future for all. Our team build enduring relationships with our clients by delivering well - from the initial idea at the start right through to the ‘handover’ of the project. This care and ‘project stewardship’ is more than just a service offering, it is a partnership principle that we live by,” he says.

Initially developing his skills in engineering and design, Johnny moved from engineering into project management early in his career delivering ports, water and airport infrastructure for a wide range of clients. Since then, he has become a recognised leader in strategic advisory for large scale capital developments, urban regeneration and regional development.

Johnny was quick to state that “the practical project delivery experience I have learnt at Beca has been invaluable when leading the delivery of complex and challenging infrastructure development programmes – it is a real point of difference in the way we work."

Amelia Linzey, Group Director for Advisory says, “Johnny has a long and successful track record within our business. We are excited about his vision to continue to build our Project Strategy and Delivery business. I am excited about his vision for a business where people see a clear career pathway from projects to programmes to strategic support for clients. Johnny is a strong collaborative leader who values diversity of thought and has a strong values driven approach."

Johnny will start his new role on 1 September 2021.
