Beca Group CEO Amelia Linzey has welcomed the announcement of the ‘Auckland Regional Deal’ as “momentum to get things done.”

“This is an important initiative of the government and Auckland Council to unlock the city’s growth potential, to finish what has been started, to start what has been planned, to bring confidence back to the central city, and to stimulate productivity across the region,” said Ms Linzey.

“As an international company founded in Auckland 106 years ago, Beca has a deep commitment to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s progress,” said Ms Linzey. “The work we have undertaken for clients is widely represented across Auckland’s built form, above and below ground.”

Beca has been deeply involved in the planning of the City Rail Link and the project management of the New Zealand International Convention Centre for SkyCity.

“The 2026 openings of these two vital pieces of civic infrastructure and this announcement of the Auckland Regional Deal is a long-needed trifecta for the city,” said Ms Linzey.

“A key feature of evolution is that there are long periods in which nothing appears to be moving, then suddenly, everything starts to accelerate. I’m very positive about Auckland in 2026 and beyond in terms of employment, transport flow, the vibrancy of the city centre, and the city’s attractiveness to international investment and talent.”

The deal is a commitment to integrating the delivery of projects across agencies and infrastructure partners, creating better processes and faster outcomes, said Ms Linzey.

“I congratulate the elected representatives, civic officials and business groups who have worked together to design and finalise the deal. Now the work begins.”
