Once an industrial park home to marine and fishing industries, dominated by bulk storage tanks and towering cement silos, Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter has been reclaimed.

Panuku Development Auckland’s award-winning public space has restaurants and bars lining its wide walkways. Multiple playgrounds, including water-play parks and a 7m high slide, entertain thousands of children. Bordered on three sides by the Waitemata Harbour, it provides easy access to ferries, cruise ships, fishing boats and more.

We’ve worked to transform the Wynyard Quarter since 2002, alongside the then Auckland Regional Council, Auckland City Council, Ports of Auckland and later, Waterfront Auckland. This includes input into the Wynayrd Quarter masterplan (which outlines the project’s key principles and objectives) plus helping to retain and reuse historic marine structures such as North Wharf. We’ve also provided planning expertise, managed investigations and reports, collaborated on design, and provided cost management, quantity surveying and project management services.

Together, we’ve helped to create a space for Aucklanders to love and enjoy. It’s been transformed from a hardworking industrial space into a well-used, family-friendly area. It’s just the beginning for the vibrant Wynyard Quarter with plans in place for flagship hotels, homes and offices to come.

Our Client Says

This is potentially the most important urban redevelopment project New Zealand has seen. It will revitalise our tourism and events industry, attract highly skilled workers and new businesses to the waterfront, strengthen our fishing and maritime industries and attract visitors from all over the world.
