Developing Eco-Friendly Tourism in Myanmar

Beca provided electrical, structural, water engineering, and procurement services for the development of Wa Ale Island Resort, Myanmar’s first luxury eco-resort. Nestled in the Myeik Archipelago, Wa Ale Resort features 20 boutique villas, a luxury spa, activity centres, restaurants and bars – all carefully put together over a period of two years without removing a single tree or otherwise harming the surrounding environment.

For this pioneering sustainable development project, our team collaborated with Benchmade Asia Pte Ltd and the Lampi Foundation on the installation of smart electrical network equipment that leverages renewable energy from solar batteries. We also tapped into natural spring water sources to supplement Wa Ale Resort’s water needs, helping to futureproof this remote eco-paradise.

Engineering a Revolutionary Smart Office Building in Yangon

M Tower is Yangon’s first Grade 5-A premium office building, featuring column-free floor plates, high ceilings, and glass curtain walls offering panoramic city views. With 350,000 square feet of net leasable area and amenities including a bank, post office, gym and rooftop garden level alongside an array of upscale drinking and dining options, this state-of-the-art commercial hub sets a new standard in Myanmar's real estate sector.

As a consulting engineer for the ambitious M Tower project, Beca provided mechanical and electrical engineering services driven by our commitment to sustainable development. The building incorporates smart technologies such as motion-sensor lighting, energy-efficient HVAC systems, 100% backup power and a comprehensive building management system to optimise energy use.

Exploring Hydropower Feasibility for the Bawgata River

In support of Myanmar's rural development, Beca conducted a feasibility study for the Bawgata Lower Hydropower Project. This initiative aimed to improve the stability and reliability of electricity supply to rural farmers, who make a big contribution to the nation's economy. The study involved comprehensive assessments to determine the project's viability and potential impact on the local communities.
