After attending a graduate fair at university it was clear to Melody that Beca was the right place to start her career. She was excited by the diversity of work and the idea of learning how to become a consultant, while growing her technical skills learning from industry experts.
Melody felt right at home with our values of enjoyment and care, and quickly understood why people say Beca is a ‘family’. “Whether it’s a challenge or a proud moment, work-related or personal, I always feel the strength of the team around me and know I can rely on them to help,” says Melody.
Since joining as a graduate in 2004, Melody has established herself as a leader and gained invaluable experience on a wide range of projects. She is now an ISO certified environmental auditor and specialises in providing approval and environmental management advice on infrastructure and industrial projects. In her role, Melody has led the planning and environmental components of some large and complex projects, and credits the diversity of her project experience for providing her with the background to do so successfully.
"We’re given opportunities that challenge and explore our interests. The volume of knowledge in the organisation is incredible," says Melody.
Melody takes a lot of satisfaction from seeing others develop - helping others to identify and pursue development paths and achieve their career goals. She is also passionate about creating workplaces that are flexible, inclusive and healthy and says, “Creating trusting relationships, supported by the technology and tools to work more dynamically, is going to be critical”.
Melody is currently participating in Leadership Victoria’s Williamson Community Leadership Program through which she is digesting a range of issues and considering the role of organisations in creating healthy and prosperous communities.
