We were honoured to have distinguished guests in attendance including: Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Auckland, Madame Xu Erwen; Vice Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Auckland, Mr. Xiao Yewen; Consul Economic & Commercial Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Auckland, Madam Kou Mengjun; Auckland City Council CEO Stephen Town and Newly Elected Howick Ward Councilor Paul Young to name a few.

The main theme of this year’s event was around how innovation can drive economic growth in NewZealand. Consul-General of the People's Republic of China in Auckland, Madame Xu Erwen delivered a warm opening speech, where she wished everyone a wonderful Mid-Autumn festival. She was highly appreciative of the fast development of cooperation between New Zealand and China.

Andrew Blackford, a former structural engineer at Beca who is now running his own tourism company - Canopy Tours in Rotorua was the first to share insights from his entreprenurial journey.

David Wang from Zino Capital shared his experience of how Zino can help connect Start up projects in New Zealand with investors from China and United States.

Finally, Beca's Neil Horsfield demonstrated Beca's award winning Beacon system, an app that helps structural engineers to monitor the safety status of a building after a natural disaster has struck.

This successful event represents the increased co-operation and understanding between Beca and the Chinese community. Helping Chinese businesses develop a better understanding of New Zealand, by using our collective experience and innovation to support their success in New Zealand is important to SkyKiwi and Beca.
