Beca won four awards at the Illuminating Engineering Society New Zealand Chapter 2018 Lighting Design Awards, which included recognition for one of our youngest engineers.
Laurie Cook, an Associate in our Building Services team, received his Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) fellowship and acknowledgement for his Registered Lighting Practitioner (RLP) certification, one of only two in New Zealand. What followed was a truly remarkable evening with many of our team members being recognised for excellence in the field of illumination design.
Among them was Corin Roland, one of our youngest engineers and a recent graduate from a Massey University IES-endorsed lighting course, who won in the student lighting design competition for the design of a European town hall.
Other success stories on the evening saw Commendation Lighting Awards go to Laurie Cook and Wilson Yu for their design work at the high end Huami Restaurant, at Auckland’s iconic SKY Tower.
Additional accolades included the Commendation Energy Award and an overall award of excellence to Laurie Cook and Corin Roland. This was won in conjunction with architects Foster + Melvilles for their work on the Wellington-based Te Kahui Auaha (NZ Institute of Creativity).
It was a very successful evening for our team and a reminder of how lighting design can not only improve the functionality of our built environment but also the wellbeing of building occupants.
