Our Singapore team is celebrating another successful year in the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES) Awards, with Edi Hartono (Senior Engineer – Civil & Structural) receiving the 'Young Consulting Engineer of the Year Award' (Structural Engineer category) for 2016.
Presented at the ACES annual Award Ceremony on Friday 4 March in Singapore, the award aims to recognise, celebrate and encourage young consulting engineers working in Singapore. Recipients are judged to have made a substantial and sustained contribution to their profession and completed excellent work that demonstrates their design and engineering abilities.
This is the third year in a row that a young engineer at Beca has won this award. Previous recipients include Gavin Chua in 2015 and Ho Cher Ri in 2014.
The selection process is rigorous – entrants submit a portfolio of their work and shortlisted candidates present this to an assessing committee. In Edi's submission, he showcased his contributions as a consulting engineer for the DUO Mixed Development project – a striking, new, 50-storey, mixed-use tower in the heart of Singapore's CBD. He also highlighted his key attributes as a team player and socially responsible individual.
"I am proud to see our young engineers like Edi, Galvin and Cher Ri succeed" says Ang Seng, Asia Managing Director. "They are very bright and deserve to be recognised for their contributions. We are involved in a number of challenging and iconic projects in Singapore, so it's important to have our young engineers involved so they can learn from our more senior engineers and deliver excellent results. I am delighted for Edi and wish him many more successes in the years to come."
