The IPWEA NZ Excellence Awards provide an opportunity for public works practitioners to showcase the great work they do. In New Zealand public works projects are delivered by a range of parties including local government, central government, consultants, contractors and suppliers, so the successful delivery of projects is usually a team effort.

On top of this success, Business Director – Water, Dan Stevens was also one of three finalists of the Hynds Paper of the Year Award.

“Over 100 papers are submitted, so to be one of three chosen as a finalist is an honour,” said Dan. “I had the opportunity to address all 300+ attendees – something I wouldn’t have had the chance to do had I not been a finalist.”

All IPWEA NZ members who have a paper accepted for presentation at the IPWEA Conference are automatically entered into the Hynds Award. Before the conference, judges select the three best papers, which are then presented in the Hynds Paper plenary session at Conference. These presentations are judged by the audience, ultimately deciding the winner.

The IPWEA conference was held on 20-22 June. The IPWEA NZ Excellence Awards were presented at the Fulton Hogan IPWEA NZ Conference Dinner on Friday evening, 22 June, in Rotorua, New Zealand.
