At the 2017 Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards on Friday, Beca was delighted to celebrate 11 award wins including two Best in Category awards for the PWC and Manaaki by Mercy buildings. This fantastic recognition of excellence in the built environment is testament to Beca’s ability to collaborate to bring ideas to life and make things happen.
The awards are highly regarded for their focus on efficient use of capital, and are evaluated against a wide range of criteria to provide an outstanding return and/or delivery of service potential on investment of funds.

PwC Centre – RCP Commercial Office Property Award (Best in Category): Beca provided the structural design services for the iconic commercial A-Grade office development in Christchurch. Manaaki by Mercy - Fagerhult NZ Health and Medical Property Award (Best in Category): Mercy’s state-of-art day stay building is a two-storied, 754sqm purpose-built facility for which Beca provided the structural and fire engineering services.
133 Molesworth Street - RCP Commercial Office Property Award (Excellence) and Resene Green Building Property Award (Merit): The redevelopment of the William Clayton Building in Wellington demonstrates first-class seismic engineering that enabled the tenant to resume full operations the day after the Kaikoura earthquakes. Mason Bros. – Hawkins Heritage and Adaptive Reuses Property Award (Excellence) and RCP Commercial Office Property Award (Merit): The solution to Mason Bros.' building information modelling challenge is game-changing for asset management. Using the latest cloud-based mobile technology, it gives operational teams all the information they need at their fingertips. Read more.
Burwood Hospital Redevelopment – Fagerhult NZ Health and Medical Property Award (Excellence): The $215million, 30,000sqm specialist rehabilitation hospital comprises 230 new inpatient beds, radiology, outpatient and procedural areas with cafe and retail forming a light-filled central hub. Beca provide building services, fire and structural design services to this landmark project.
AUT Building MH – GIB Education Property Award (Excellence): The completed building is to play a vital role in catalysing the transformation of AUT’s South Auckland campus. The 11,000sqm development is composed of two academic buildings linked by a multi-purpose atrium, and encloses a new green quad that forms the social heart of the campus. Providing building services, fire, and structural design services showcased the opportunities available with an integrated team; with Beca working closely with the architect to deliver the project vision.
Te Aro O Mauao, Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology - GIB Education Property Award (Excellence): The building and adjacent landscape is designed as part of a Creative Arts and Applied Technology Precinct and is comprised of 3,500sqm of modern, interdisciplinary learning space for approximately 700 students. Beca provided all engineering services (structural, building services and fire). .
Emerson’s Brewery and Taproom – YARDI Industrial Property Award (Merit): The project created a unique landmark, new jobs and expanded production capacity. Plus, the future-proofed design allows for further growth. Find out about Emerson's new spiritual home and Beca’s involvement in the project.
The Christchurch Club – Hawkins Heritage and Adaptive Reuses Property Award (Merit): The Club’s aspirations and project brief required high quality, innovative and enduring design solutions that reflected the Club’s special character. Seismic strengthening has taken the building to 100% NBS and heritage characteristics blend seamlessly with new facilities. Beca provided building services and structural design services.
