Minister for Climate Change & PM launch NZ Green Investment Finance at Aorangi House

Aorangi House, our award-winning, Beca-designed Wellington office hosted Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Minister of Finance Grant Robertson and Minister for Climate Change James Shaw, for the launch of an exciting new environmental investment initiative today.

Our award-winning project, Aorangi House, hosted Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, Minister of Finance Grant Robertson and Minister for Climate Change James Shaw, for the launch of a new low carbon investment initiative today. New Zealand Green Investment Finance (NZGIF) will act as a bridge between investors and key industries and sectors to stimulate investment into low emissions projects.

Aorangi House was chosen as the venue for the press conference because of its exemplary green credentials. The refurbished 1970’s building is one of the most energy efficient in New Zealand and has won a host of awards, including the World Green Building Council Leadership in Sustainable Design and Performance award.

When launching the green investment initiative, James Shaw said, “It’s no coincidence that we are in a recycled building. Because recycled buildings that operate to such high standards and are great places to work – like this one - are one of the opportunities that we’ve identified for reducing emissions in NZ and shifting towards a low carbon economy.”

Beca’s Mike Kerr, Central Region Manager, said “We are really proud of Aorangi House. Not only is it one of our projects, it’s also our Wellington home. Hosting such an important announcement about environmental policy at the building really demonstrates its significance as a world-leading example of sustainable design and innovation.”
