Beca celebrates ACES Award winners for 6th consecutive year

Beca is celebrating two wins at this year’s Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES) Young Engineer of the Year Awards, with Sirius Tan Hanqin and Johnson Li winning in the Electrical and Mechanical categories respectively.

These ACES Awards recognise, celebrate and encourage young engineers across Singapore who have made a substantial contribution to the profession, by demonstrating exceptional design and technical expertise. This year’s awards were presented at the ACES 48th Anniversary Gala Dinner, on Thursday, 21 March.

2019 is the sixth consecutive year that a young engineer from Beca’s Singapore office has won the award. Previous recipients were Aw Chung Seng in 2018, Charlotte Mok in 2017, Edi Hartono in 2016, Galvin Chua in 2015 and Ho Cher Ri in 2014.

Both of our 2019 winners have recently been involved with projects for the National University of Singapore (NUS) including a 16-storey wet research laboratory at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and a BIM (Building Information Modelling) project for the E7 (Faculty of Engineering) Building.

Lee Ang Seng, Managing Director of Beca Singapore, said, “Congratulations to Sirius and Johnson on this well-deserved recognition. They have made all of us in Beca proud. Both engineers truly deliver on our purpose to ‘make everyday better’ in all of their work for our clients”.

In reflecting on their wins, Johnson emphasises the importance of teamwork, “everything we do in Beca… is always the result of the hard work of everyone around me”, whilst Sirius views the award as “a stepping stone… towards (making an even greater) contribution to the industry, as well as (my) personal growth and development as an engineer”.
