Two wins for Beca Singapore at the 2015 ACES Awards

Beca Singapore was in the spotlight once again with two wins at the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore (ACES) Awards. Our building services design of the Maritime Experiential Museum in Singapore received the ACES Award for Design Excellence; and Galvin Chua from our Singapore buildings team won the Young Consulting Engineer of the Year Award (Electrical Engineer category).

The awards recognised engineering excellence and were presented at ACES' 44th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Wednesday 18 March at the Resort World Convention Centre in Singapore. The awards aim to serve as an incentive for engineers in Singapore to pay particular attention to high standards of engineering design and quality; enhance engineering excellence; give recognition to outstanding design projects and engineering achievements; and demonstrate the broad range of services and technical expertise provided by consulting engineers in Singapore.

The Maritime Experiential Museum in Singapore is a 10,000m2 building, housed in an iconic steel and glass shell. The museum provides a unique experience for visitors, educating them on the early maritime history of Singapore and the growth of sea trade between Asia and the Middle East. It features interactive exhibits, immersive theme rides and exploration of life-size replica historical ships.

The ACES Young Consulting Engineer of the Year Award acknowledges a young engineer for his/her contribution to working in a team on a challenging or ground-breaking project and project leadership skills. In Galvin’s submission, he highlighted his involvement and contribution to the NUS AS8 Administration Building project, the Marina One mixed-development and the Nanyang Technological University M&E upgrade works.

"Winning the ACES Young Consulting Engineer award provides a great sense of satisfaction and achievement in the work that I do as a consulting engineer" says Galvin. "This award will motivate me to excel further in my professional development and to help develop upcoming, young, consulting engineers in their careers."

Congratulations to Galvin and the Singapore mechanical and electrical building services team on winning these outstanding achievements! For more information about the awards, please visit the ACES website.
