Beca wins four NZPI Awards

With two Best Practice Awards and a Commendation at the 2015 NZPI (New Zealand Planning Institute) Conference, Beca is delighted to be recognised for the role we play in helping to shape the New Zealand of the future. We also warmly congratulate Beca planner Perri Duffy, who received New Zealand's Young Planner of the Year award.

The awards ceremony was held at gala dinner at the Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland on Friday, 17 April. Beca took home the Integrated Planning and Investigations Award and the Consultation and Participation Strategies and Processes Award, as well as a Commendation for Strategic Planning and Guidance.

According to Managing Director Don Lyon, these awards are the result of "A firm commitment to our clients and our communities to deliver excellent outcomes."

"We are proud of our planners and their achievements, which have been recognised naturally", he said. “We also thank our clients and our project partners for their hard work and dedication to finding the best outcomes we can, together."

The Best Practice Awards:

Auckland Harbour Bridge Adaptive Management Framework - Winner of the Best Practice Award for Integrated Planning and Investigations: (delivered as part of the Auckland Harbour Bridge Maintenance Consenting Project with the Auckland Harbour Bridge Alliance). An integrated, multi-disciplinary team of planners, scientists and maintenance operators developed a flexible consenting framework that is projected to provide considerable operations and maintenance cost savings over the next ten years.

Mana Whenua - Winner of the Best Practice Award for Consultation and participation strategies and/or processes: The award recognises the Chorus Ultra-Fast Broadband (UFB) consenting and deployment collaboration with Auckland Mana Whenua. The outcome of the consultation process was an approved resource consent enabling UFB to be deployed through 3600+ Mana Whenua sites across the Auckland region.

Waitomo Caves Village Structure Plan - Best Practice Award commendation for Strategic Planning and Guidance: The Plan was a community-led approach involving Tere Waitomo Community Trust, an organisation formed in 2010 to assist in developing a shared vision for Waitomo Caves Village and the surrounding environment. The Plan identifies practical, affordable projects that can be delivered by community as ‘quick wins’.
