Beca has been engaged by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) to investigate the opportunities and barriers to the use of renewable energy in the Australian water sector, with the objective to reduce the cost and increase the use of renewable energy technologies.
The investigation will help to inform ARENA regarding key priority areas for grant funding and knowledge sharing activities. As a part of this process, Beca will conduct extensive stakeholder engagement across a range of water sub-sectors including water supply, distribution, treatment, waste water/recycling and irrigation.
How you can get involved
A broad stakeholder engagement process will be undertaken to help ARENA understand the specific needs and key focus areas for the water sector. Beca will coordinate a range of activities to encourage participation from water sector stakeholders, which includes:
- Stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing workshops
- Stakeholder interviews
- Online surveys
- Stakeholder study participation.
This is a valuable opportunity for the water sector to provide input around how ARENA funding and knowledge sharing activities can best help renewable energy projects, and to help shape the understanding of how renewable energy projects impact the water sector.
