Beca is proud to support the people of Christchurch and the Christchurch City Council as Principal Sponsors of Beca Heritage Week, running from 12 to 22 October 2018.
This year’s theme is ‘Strength from struggle – remembering our courageous communities.’ Events held throughout the week will commemorate the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage, the centenary of the World War I armistice, and the influenza pandemic that followed.
Letitia Drury, Beca Southern Region Manager, says “This is the eleventh year in a row we’ve celebrated Beca Heritage Week, and we’re really proud to get behind this year’s theme of pushing boundaries, questioning the status quo and forging ahead for our future generations. And let’s remember, that’s what some amazing women did 125 years ago!”
The week’s events will be officially launched on 12 October, with opening formalities by Hon Lianne Dalziel, Mayor of Christchurch and a special guest performance by members of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
The many fun and interesting events taking place across the week will include the regular highlights Rewind at Ferrymead, and the Spring Fair at Orton Bradley Park. Visit the Christchurch City Council website for more information on all the different events.
