The future of construction: Identifying opportunity out of disruption

This week, Neil Horsfield – our Building Structures lead – will present at the inaugural International Construction Conference: ‘Constructing our World (People, Performance, Purpose) 22-24 March in Auckland.

Speakers at the forefront of global construction innovation will share new technologies, techniques, disrupters, practices and methods that have the ability to transform the sector and our built environment.

Hosted by the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) and Singapore Institute of Building Ltd (SIBL), the conference will showcase the future of construction.

In Session One: Looking Forward, Neil’s presentation, ‘Shaping the construction industry – identifying opportunity out of disruption’ will centre on the notion that, to be sustainable, construction industry businesses should keep in view the range of market opportunity that exists in the built environment. Neil will draw the distinction between differentiation, diversification and disruption to create market opportunity.

Neil’s passion lies in disruption and challenging his own business and others to identify opportunity out of disruption, with a view to shaping our industry, rather than being shaped by it.

In his view, “the world is changing faster than ever before. New ideas, new inventions, and new technology are disrupting the way we live and do business. Will you change, or be changed? That is the question!”
