This International Women in Engineering Day, 23 June, a day dedicated to recognising and celebrating our inspirational, talented and dedicated women as heroes in industry, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Claire Booth Jones as Beca’s New Zealand Market Director – Rail.Claire is a highly impressive talent known for her collaborative leadership style and for building high performance team culture. With a robust international rail pedigree, Claire has delivered rail projects in Asia and the United Kingdom, where she worked as the Commercial Programme Manager for Network Rail Southern Region before moving to New Zealand. In Hong Kong, she was involved in design management and integration of four new underground mass transit railway stations on the Lantau and Airport Railway.
A chartered structural engineer and committed architectural engineer by background, Claire’s varied and in-depth technical background and experience lends considerable credibility to discussions with clients, affording her respect in the challenging industry that is rail.
“I am excited to lead Beca’s New Zealand rail market sector at this pivotal time in our country’s rail history, and when decisions based on environmental, social and economic factors are critical for the future of our planet. I am proud to work in an industry that delivers sustainable transport options which contribute positively to our long-term social and community wellbeing. And, I look forward to making the most of this new role, and the opportunity to build upon our already strong collaboration and relationships with clients, partners and colleagues across the sector,” says Claire.
Claire joined Beca two years ago from City Rail Link Limited where she was a Design Manager and the Auckland Transport Interface Manager once the delivery alliance was appointed. Prior to that, she was with KiwiRail where she was a Project Manager for the DART programme (Developing Auckland’s Rail Transport).
We are excited to have Claire take on this new leadership role at such a time of great change across Aotearoa, with the significant focus on multi-modal transport solutions and decarbonization of our transport system front and centre.
