Cutting-edge development projects were at the forefront of this year's Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall Property Industry Awards. Alongside our clients, contractors, and project partners, we were delighted to celebrate five of these projects, which were recognised at the awards ceremony on 17 June in Auckland.
Around 1500 property professionals from around New Zealand attended the prestigious awards which celebrate excellence in property development that shapes city landscapes.
91 nominations were received across a range of categories and judged on economic and financial factors, project vision and innovation, design and construction, owner and user satisfaction, and sustainability and efficiency of operation.
Property Council Chief Executive, Connal town said, "It was a pleasure to witness the extent of creativity and ingenuity which continues to shape New Zealand's urban fabric. These beautiful, practical and cutting-edge industry designs make a significant contribution to our local and national economies by providing accommodation, employment and amenities that communities need to thrive."
We are proud to have been involved in the following award-winning projects:
Hopetoun Residences – Multi-Unit Residential Property Award (Best in Category)
The consideration of architectural and design innovation and planning, and a focus on quality, elegance, and location, sees Hopetoun Residences stand out amongst the trend of redevelopments of old commercial stock on the fringes of central Auckland.
Fonterra Centre – Commercial Office Property Award (Excellence) and Green Building Property Award (Merit)
This new, 16,000m2, 7-storey, purpose-built building for Fonterra's Head Office functions transformed an under-utilised brownfield site at a high-profile Auckland intersection. With energy-efficiency addressed through multiple aspects, the building achieved a 5-Star New Zealand Green Building Council rating for base build, and is targeting a 6-Star rating for fit-out.
One Market Lane – Multi-Unit Residential Property Award (Merit)
One Market Lane offers an exceptional blend of waterfront and city living in the heart of Wellington City. Intentionally designed to fit in with neighbouring heritage buildings, the 12-storey, mixed-use apartment building has created a rich living environment and greater spatial experiences.
Auckland International Airport Terminal Building – Special Purpose Property Award (Merit)
Auckland Airport's international arrivals hall required an expansion to accommodate growing passenger arrivals. Completed ahead of programme and within budget, expansion has already resulted in more streamlined passenger flows, reduced waiting times, and a more rationalised response to carrier demands.
Trustpower Head Office – Commercial Office Property Award (Merit)
This stunning, modern, 7000m2, 4-level building has lifted the bar for commercial office design in Tauranga. Features include exposed building services, a large central atrium, uninterruptable power supplies, back up electrical generation, and access-based work stations.
