Beca Welcomes Matt Hunt to our Airports team

Beca is proud to welcome Matt Hunt to our dedicated Australian Airports team as Technical Director – Airport Engineering, based in our Sydney office.

Matt will play an important role overseeing the technical excellence of the engineering solutions we deliver for our growing portfolio of Commercial Airport and Defence Aviation clients across Australia, ensuring we continue to improve upon our already high benchmarks.

In his new role as Technical Director, he will also help develop our emerging generaton of Airport Engineering talent, ensuring the sector is well served for the future.

With over 27 years’ experience in the Aviation sector, Matt has successfully delivered a wide range of airport projects throughout the United Kingdom, Middle East, Asia and Australasia. His specialist skills span the disciplines of Airside Civil Engineering, Airfield Planning & Geometric Design and Heavy-Duty Pavement Design.

Notable projects where he’s been an integral member of the delivery team include: Western Sydney Airport – Terminal and Speciality Package Works Tender (Technical Advisor), Melbourne Airport - Annual Technical Pavement Inspection (Technical Lead/Inspector), Changi Airport Singapore - 2nd Parallel Taxiway (Principal Engineer/Lead Pavement Designer) and Birmingham Airport - A45 Corridor Improvements and Runway Extension (Design Engineer/Team Leader).

In commenting on his new role, Matt said “I am enjoying being part of a dedicated aviation team, which fosters a high standard of technical capability and knowledge, ultimately benefiting our Aviation clients. I look forward to working with our clients, as we see the industry open up over the next few months”.

Matt joints the Beca team from his most recent role as Associate Director – Aviation at AECOM, a position where he pursued his particular passion for the design and evaluation of heavy-duty pavements.
