Damien Vermeer wins Young Electrical Power Engineer of the year

Beca’s Damien Vermeer - Power Engineer, has won the Engineers Australia Young Electrical Power Engineer of the year award for 2020.

The national award recognises a professional engineer who has demonstrated significant achievements in electrical power engineering during the preceding six years. Demonstrating partnership between Engineers Australia and industry, Damien says he is humbled to win such a high-profile award.

“I’m really excited to have won a national award, and I want to thank my clients and Beca for the ongoing support and great projects I get to work across,” says Damien.

Damien is an experienced designer and verifier of commercial grid-connected photovoltaic systems. Working recently as a lead owners engineer for a 7.5 MW solar farm, the concept design of a new 4 MW AC solar farm in Western Sydney and the tender design of a flagship 150 kWp solar PV system in Melbourne’s CBD.  

Currently working across industrial sites, universities, prisons, data centres and railway infrastructure, Damien is also a Clean Energy Council accredited designer.
