Changi Airport’s Terminal 4 is transforming how we travel, thanks to smart technology and a game-changing passenger experience - from self-service check-in to relaxing green sanctuaries.

Changi Airport is the sixth busiest airport in the world – and rated the world’s best – so it’s the fitting home for a terminal like no other. The new Changi Terminal 4, which opened its gates on 1 November 2017, is a two-storey, 25m high, 225,000m2.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) had an ambitious vision – a premium terminal full of technological innovations that will provide a game-changing experience for its millions of travellers. T4 needed to be delivered in an incredibly challenging four-year timeframe, from design to operation. And to help deliver CAG’s vision, we designed the building services and IT services, as well as acted as technical assessors.

For an enjoyable passenger experience, T4 boasts green features (including relaxing green sanctuaries), extensive shopping and the celebration of local culture, like traditional Peranakan shop fronts.

The practicalities of air travel are catered for by Fast And Seamless Travel (FAST). This is a complete suite of self-service options, from check-in and bag drop to immigration clearance. By using facial recognition technology, airport staff don’t need to manually ID passengers, saving time and money.

T4, with a planned capacity of 16 million passengers a year, raises Changi Airport’s handling capacity to 82 million a year. It ensures that, even as traffic grows, the passenger experience at Changi is still a pleasure.
