Defined by big open spaces inside, and a Māori cloak inspired façade, the 195-room Park Hyatt Hotel Auckland will offer luxury waterfront accommodation in a class of its own for discrete, high end guests.

Delivering New Zealand's most sophisticated 5-star hotel on an environmentally-sensitive waterfront site, with international partners and in a constrained construction market is no small feat.

They’re the challenges we’ve successfully overcome in completing the seven-storey Park Hyatt Hotel on Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour. A premium hospitality destination developed by Beijing-based Fu Wah International Group, the Park Hyatt will offer its guests an inspiring, spacious setting complete with views across the ‘City of Sails’ stunning waterways.

To achieve the client's vision of a landmark local address, we mobilised a dedicated team of engineers for the task. Everything from ground improvement works and stabilisation of the site's mudcrete foundations, to energy efficiencies and water harvesting were harnessed to make all this happen.

One of the unique approaches we introduced was innovative space saving engineering throughout all structural elements of the hotel, including the 25 metre hollow atrium, a suspended internal bridge and narrow room columns. Reinforced concrete also provides seismic resilience.

Sustainability wasn’t overlooked either, with two large rainwater retention tanks, rooftop solar panels and greenwalls with hanging gardens integrated during construction.

Our expertise with global partnerships, BIM (Building Information Modelling), 3D modelling and engineering know-how has maximised the efficiency of the entire project lifecycle, leading to a showcase Hotel that not only enhances the client’s global reputation, but will act as a template for future developments.
