Versacold Laverton L2X

When Versacold needed to extend their existing cold store facility in Laverton, Victoria under tight deadlines, they turned to Beca.
Versacold Laverton L2X - Melbourne, Victoria.

This project was delivered using design and construct methodology, and consisted of four storage rooms designed to operate at either freezer or chiller temperatures, as well as loading docks, a forklift recharge room, amenities and external pavement upgrades.

The team at Beca provided an initial concept design, cost planning services, fire engineering, statutory planning and project management services to the project.

Beca was able to draw upon its extensive experience with cold stores when preparing the Fire Engineering brief and engaging in discussions with the Building Surveyor and Fire Brigade. By addressing the fire issues peculiar to cold stores, Beca was able to achieve a fire safety outcome that was both cost effective and acceptable to the authorities.

In addition, Beca’s expertise in cold store design assisted Versacold in reviewing the contractor’s design and achieving a final design that was functional and which aimed to avoid future maintenance issues.

Beca worked closely with Versacold and the contractor to enable the project to be completed ahead of schedule, prior to the busy pre-Christmas period, and with minimal disruption to Versacold’s ongoing operations.
