Beca worked closely with the client and other partners, aiming to build a landmark project in Baoding combining retail, office and hotel space.
Located in China's Hebei Province, Baoding Vanbo Plaza (保定万博广场) is the landmark of Baoding City with a total GFA of about 370,000m2, sitting on a site area of 23,536m2.
Sitting on top of a six floor retail podium are twin super-rising towers. The north tower, 123m in height, is used as Grade A office space, and the south tower of 192m high is used as Grade A office space and a 5-star hotel. Main tenants of the retail component are Parkson and Wanda Cinema among others. Wal-Mart occupies more than one half of B1, whereas the other part is used as back of house of the 5-star hotel. B2 and B3 are used as car parks, plant rooms and hotel utilities.
Beca's provided extensive services, including shop drawing reviews, ELV drawing reviews, tender specification, return tender evaluation, and MEP construction management. This ranged from design work management, construction process management, modification management, safety management and documentation management.
The Beca team helped to deal with a number of challenges during the construction process. We helped the client to build and optimise a project management system, facilitating the establishment of clear roles and responsibilities and helping to create more flexibility for the client to respond to tenant requirements.
Construction is expected for completion in late 2013.
