“Assisting with developing and managing Air New Zealand’s environmental management programme was a rewarding experience – They have done some fantastic things and it was exciting to be a part of it.”
Based in Beca’s Wellington office in New Zealand, Belinda is a key force for sustainability and environmental initiatives within the company as well as for a range of high profile clients. She has a strong background in environmental management, planning and resource consenting.
Belinda says her exposure to a variety of clients and opportunities has increased exponentially since joining Beca in 2006. “As Beca is a large multidisciplinary organisation with many talented people, we have the ability to be involved in entire projects and deliver tangible results in the environmental arena,” she says.
A recent project for Belinda was establishing an environmental management framework and sustainability strategy for high-profile client Air New Zealand. This was no easy task, given the varied responsibilities and services provided by Air New Zealand and the added requirement to provide something that will be recognised and credible in the international market. Belinda and the Beca team rose to the challenge by reviewing the relevant facets of the business and assisting Air NZ with gaining ISO 14001 for their head office “The Hub”, an international best practice certification standard for environmental management.
Belinda has done similar reviews for the Tauranga City Council and the Bay of Plenty District Health Board and is currently helping Beca’s Singapore office to achieve ISO 14001 certification for their Environmental Management System.
Belinda is also leading Beca’s internal sustainability programme, which aims to improve our environmental performance (including reducing our carbon footprint), and managing the sustainability reporting process for the NZBCSD.
