Associate - Building Services Engineering / New Zealand

Tony Sullivan

"Beca enables me to work on large, prestigious commissions with the best clients, design professionals and contractors in the business, which all make the job rewarding."

Tony Sullivan - Associate of Building Services Engineering.

Tony has substantial building services design experience from leading consulting engineering practices in the UK. Primarily a designer, his philosophy is to find engineering solutions from the outset that fully integrate with the architectural and structural elements and are easy to install and maintain. This is driven by experience gained in site supervision, hands-on commissioning and advising on building operation and maintenance.

His current focus with Beca is on the design and management of large commercial office projects. Most recently, Tony was Project Manager for Telecom's new Victoria Square building and BNZ's Quay Park One. He also provides strategic ESD advice, particularly with respect to the New Zealand Green Star rating system, for which he is an Accredited Professional.

This is coupled with an advisory role on the optimisation of road tunnel operations and maintenance. Responsibilities include writing emergency procedures, planning closures, managing on-site works, trouble shooting faults, analysis and optimisation of energy usage, optimisation of maintenance frequencies and procedures, plant lifecycle analysis and health and safety advice.

As a diverse organisation, Beca allows Tony to put his skills to use in a variety of areas, which enables him to broaden his knowledge and improve his service delivery to clients. "Few consultancies in New Zealand and internationally have the ability to put together such a high calibre of people to resolve a complex problem or peer review a design."
