Graham has a passion for sustainable infrastructure development that protects and enhances the natural environment of New Zealand's streams and rivers.
Graham has been working on infrastructure development projects for over 30 years, specialising in water resources and assessing the effects of infrastructure projects on the water environment. He has applied his experience in hydrology and hydraulics to projects as diverse as urban stormwater and flood risk management, urban growth, irrigation, hydro-electric projects, mining, rail, highways and bridges.
Graham's particular interest is in concept development, feasibility studies, environmental assessment and consenting of projects; and he has appeared many times in consent hearings and the Environment Court as an expert witness.
He has also been actively involved in the detailed design and construction of infrastructure projects. A number of these has taken Graham to countries such as Singapore, Samoa, Papua New Guinea and a five year stint living and working in Nepal. He has also worked in most regions of New Zealand and continues be actively involved in projects throughout the country.
In his role as a Technical Director, Graham provides a mentoring and support role to other technical staff within Beca and he takes a review and advisory role in many Beca projects. He also undertakes independent peer reviews of work outside of Beca.
