"Beca helps give you the opportunity to diversify your skills and develop in the direction of your interest."
Henry relocated to New Zealand from South Africa in 1998 having worked for 20 years as a structural engineer in a variety of markets including steel, oil and gas and food and beverage.
After working for a water services consultancy for three years as a manager of design services, Henry joined Beca in 2001 to help develop the regional industrial business unit.
Since then, Henry has enjoyed a variety of roles from a section manager in Beca's New Plymouth office to working on feasibility studies for overseas clients. He has also been instrumental for winning work for major clients in the oil and gas industry.
His current role as national director, oil and gas and general manager of Beca projects in New Zealand has allowed Henry to continue to develop his understanding of the oil and gas market. "The projects Beca is winning in this field are getting bigger and bigger, with horizons for completion being set 10 to 15 years in the future," he says.
Henry enjoys the diversity that enables Beca to bring new challenges and opportunities. "The oil and gas market is particularly exciting," he says, "as our clients are planning for a future when demand, supply and price will continue to go up."
