Through his involvement with the New Zealand Green Building Council, Brendon is Beca's key contact for green building design in Auckland. He undertakes Green Star Assessments as an accredited professional and assists in creating rating tools for different sectors. Brendon led the interior fitouts for IAG and Quay Park One buildings - both went on to gain a 5-Star Interior Green Building rating.
Brendon regularly provides building services and environmentally sustainable design advice for a range of projects across Asia-Pacific. This ranges from concept through to detailed design and review, with recent examples being Pacific Place in Jakarta, Indonesia, Auckland Airport terminal developments, Auckland's Eden Park upgrade, Lion Nathan's Project Century and Project TAKITINI.
For Pacific Place, Brendon project managed the 410,000m2 mixed-use development that incorporated eight retail levels, two residential towers, an office building and a 6-Star hotel. "At its full flight this project had up to 65 Beca people assisting," he says. "It was full on for six months, requiring me to fly to Indonesia every four weeks to liaise with the construction team, and to Singapore to visit the architects."
Brendon currently leads the Auckland commercial office team, designing base-build and tenant fitout projects. Over the last four years, his passion for tailoring building spaces to individual clients has created a niche tenancy advisory market for Beca. As lead technical advisor for large corporate organisations, including Telecom, Westpac and Deloitte to name a few, Brendon translates the client's aspirations and operational requirements for space and quality into technical performance briefs.
