Kevin has over 32 years' experience in heavy civil structures design including managing teams in multi-discipline road and rail projects in New Zealand and Singapore. Recruited in Singapore where he managed an infrastructure consultancy business for eight years, Kevin joined Beca in 2003 to manage the design of the Northern Busway in Auckland, New Zealand.
Kevin was attracted by Beca's portfolio of large infrastructure projects, which has enabled him to further his interests in heavy civil structures in road, rail and tunnelling. Apart from Northern Busway, Kevin has led several teams for other major projects, including Harbour Link and Northcote Sunnynook Auxiliary lane widening for the New Zealand Transport Agency, DART 8 North Auckland Rail Line Stage 4 duplication and the New Lynn Rail trench DART6 ECI contract as Design Team Leader and inputs into key Auckland projects like the CBD underground rail loop and AMETI road project.
With Beca's growing presence in Australia, Kevin has been an important promoter of our civil structures capabilities in the rail market. He enjoys working closely alongside contractors in alliance and ECI contracts, which is also one of Beca's main strengths. This was recently evidenced in the New Lynn Rail Trench ECI project. "Our interactive involvement with contractors delivers innovative solutions ranging from diaphragm wall construction in a live rail environment, to fire, building and geotechnical services, providing value to the client and key stakeholders," he says.
According to Kevin, the depth of skills sets Beca apart from its competitors. "Many of our competitors require teaming with other consultants to deliver projects, but Beca has the ability to deliver most of a project's components in-house. We have also developed a reputation of delivering projects consistently, in a client-conscious manner."
