“The enthusiasm and energy of a young and dynamic team mixed with knowledge and experience is a powerful combination that Beca harnesses to great effect.”
Based in Beca’s Wellington office, Geoff is responsible for business development and delivery of project outcomes in the bridges and civil structures area. This covers all types of bridge infrastructure as well as marine structures, retaining walls and tunnels.
Geoff has over 31 years experience working in consultation and design of bridges, buildings and roads in the United Kingdom and New Zealand as well as experience on bridge projects in the Middle East and Taiwan. Prior to joining Beca in 2008, Geoff was Chief Engineer of Bridges and Structures for RailCorp in Sydney. His depth of bridging design experience and the contacts established with client organisations have been invaluable in his current role as a Beca Technical Director.
Since joining Beca, his projects have included working as structural verifier for the Port Botany Expansion project in Sydney, structural leader for the Matahorua Gorge Realignment project north of Napier and, currently, as structural leader for the Waterview Connection in Auckland and structural verifier for Christchurch Southern Motorway. Geoff is also working closely with KiwiRail to help them deliver their bridge replacement programme.
Geoff believes that Beca’s core strengths lie in the multi-disciplinary skills, experience and enthusiasm of its staff, and its historic role in the design of much of New Zealand’s key infrastructure. “These strengths provide a strong basis for taking on new challenges and are enhanced with effective management systems and risk control processes” he says.
