Project Director for Infrastructure / Melbourne

Paul Collier

"Finding innovative solutions to the diverse challenges presented across wide range of projects has been a consistent theme at Beca."

Paul Collier - Project Director of Infrastructure.

In his 30 years with Beca Paul has enjoyed many career opportunities around the world, including Australia and South East Asia.

He joined Beca as a design engineer in 1980 and has moved up through the ranks from site engineer to project manager, from managing a branch to business development; and then from client relationship manager to his more recent position as Alliance Manager.

Beca has provided Paul with a host of opportunities to work on projects across the spectrum ranging from one of the earliest examples of sustainable engineering with the Nelson Regional Sewerage Scheme to the city of Bendigo's water reclamation plant, the first regional recycling facility that treats and reuses 100% of the output from the city's wastewater treatment plant.

One of Paul's most challenging projects has been leading a team of 120 who will be assisting with delivering Melbourne Water's capital works programme for the next five years. This programme involves around 30 separate projects including a wet weather capacity upgrade, new inlet screens and grit handling facility, replacement covers for some major lagoons, new aeration blowers and a range of civil, mechanical and electrical upgrades.

Accepting the range of opportunities at Beca as they come along has enabled Paul to progress his career. These have included relocating to New Plymouth to open and manage a new office, moving to Melbourne to establish an infrastructure business line and to develop the water and wastewater business that now employs over 50 Beca staff members.
