"I have a strong desire to solve problems and achieve results."
David has worked for Beca for 13 years in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. He started as a technical specialist in hydraulic engineering and modelling and now manages Beca's water business in Australia.
A significant project that David was involved in was the Epsom Spring Gully Recycled Water Project in Australia. As job director, he had the overall responsibility for achieving good results for our client and for Beca. The project now recycles 100% of Bendigo's wastewater helping to alleviate water shortages for that township.
Prior to that project David was design manager on a project in Singapore capturing stormwater from the northern side of Singapore Island for treatment and indirect re-use in their water supply. Working and living in Singapore and being exposed to a different culture was a great experience for David and his family.
He cites his most satisfying project experience as the completion of the coastal restoration works in the Mangere wastewater treatment plant upgrade in Auckland. David helped to restore about 13km of coastline on the Manukau Harbour that had been occupied for over 40 years by wastewater oxidation ponds. The restoration has huge significance for the local Maori community, as the area is their customary fishing grounds.
David has strong technical background with a doctorate in civil engineering.
