As a professional service consultancy, Beca’s core strength lies in our employees. Chuan Seng feels it is important to develop our employees to their highest potential to help anchor Beca’s position as one of the leading international engineering consultancies in the Asia-Pacific region.
Chuan Seng joined Beca in 1989 as Director in Singapore and became Deputy Managing Director in1993 and then Joint Managing Director in 1995. In 2002, he became CEO of Beca Asia as well as Executive Director on the Beca Group Limited Board. Since 2007 he has served as Chairman Beca Asia and is an alternate Member of the Beca Group Board.
During his time with Beca, Chuan Seng has helped to substantially strengthen the company’s position in Asia. The Singapore office has grown from 20 employees when he first joined Beca in 1989. Today, Beca Asia has five offices with over 450 employees in Singapore, China, Indonesia and Myanmar working on projects across Asia.
To help maintain the high profile Beca has gained in Asia over the past years, Chuan Seng runs a mentoring programme for Senior Associates and Associates in Singapore; with a plan for further development in Indonesia and China. He feels it is imperative “to help guide the younger leaders to continue to uphold and help strengthen Beca’s market position”.
Chuan Seng is a Board Member of the Singapore Building and Construction Authority and the Professional Engineers Board, Honorary Advisor to the Real Estates Developers Association of Singapore, Deputy Chair of the Singapore Building and Construction Standards Committee and serves on several committees advising the industry and universities on engineering and building matters.
