Callan has over 27 years of extensive experience working in the building industry. He joined Beca in 2003 after working as Director of the Mechanical and Electrical division for Meinhardt. Since joining Beca, Callan has helped set up the Shanghai and Beijing offices as well as project directing successful projects in China, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Middle East.
His background includes working in technical design, project management and engineering services for large scale projects such as Pontiac Marina, Xintiandi Shanghai, Pidemco Office Tower, Regency Shanghai, Centennial Tower, Saigon Centre, GIC Tower, Fairmont Hotel, Yishun Industrial Park and Trinity Theological College.
As an Executive Director at Beca, Callan is responsible for Beca Buildings activities in the Asian Region, including technical design, supervising projects and managing teams of directors and managers. Callan's role includes mentoring and training engineers and designers, providing professional services and liaison with various authorities and offering mechanical and electrical services to clients. Callan has also registered in Asia as an inspector with Fire Safety and Shelter Department (FSSD) and as a Qualified Person (QP) with Professional Engineer Board.
Callan enjoys overseeing projects from project inception through to conceptual design, schematic design, detailed design, tender documentation and contract supervision. As Project Director, Callan has worked on challenging, prestigious projects for Beca. These include Orchard Central, Mediplex Hospital, Capital Tower Beijing, Beijing ShangYuan, Harbour Front, Collyer Quay and Trillium Condominium.
Establishing strong networks with clients is vital in Callan's view. "A client relationship should not be confined to business alone," he says. "Building personal trust and understanding your client's needsĀ are essential to help strengthen the relationship for the future."
