Hamilton

The Hamilton office has a strong culture of communication between the different disciplines, enabling a healthy amount of information and work sharing, which means you get a good feel for what disciplines other than your own are doing.

Beca's Hamilton office.

Beca’s Hamilton office is strategically located in the central city. It provides numerous services (Civil, Transport, Electrical & Controls, Process & Mechanical, Planning, Structural, Building Services and Power), enabling many projects to be managed and delivered using locally based resources. The team of approximately 40 employees aims to deliver high quality outcomes for a range of clients based on our strong working relationship with Local Authorities, Iwi and major industries and our ability to draw upon industry leaders from within Beca as and when required. We are proud of the projects we have delivered, many of which are of regional and national importance.

Our Civil and Transportation team is currently working on the SH2 Matahorua Gorge Scheme, (3.5km greenfield road realignment over some difficult terrain, including a 160m long bridge over a steep sided gorge) and has recently completed the infrastructure & civil engineering works associated with the new Youth Justice facility in Rotorua (involving roads, earthworks and infrastructure). The team is also working closely with Hamilton City Council & Waipa District Council on a range of schemes such as Minor Safety, Wairere Drive four laning (inner city arterial road involving the widening of an existing two lane highway involving earthworks, intersection realignments and retaining structures) and the Cambridge to Lake Karapiro Cycleway, which was recently completed in time for the 2010 World Rowing championships. The team is also proud to be involved in the redevelopment of the Raglan Wharf and is working closely with Waikato District Council to deliver the scheme.

Our Industrial team (electrical, process, structural and power) provides engineering and project management services to clients in the Food and Beverage, Power Generation, Steel and Pulp & Paper market segments, which include clients such as Fonterra, Mighty River Power, NZ Steel and Carter Holt Harvey. The team includes senior people in a range of disciplines relevant to these and other industries.

Our Planning team provides strategic policy and statutory planning support to clients and has worked on a range of projects of interest in recent years including the Waipa 2050 Growth Strategy and the Draft Waipa District Plan, Waikato Rail Strategy, Kopu-Thames Structure Plan , Southern Sector Study (a spatial planning project arising from ‘Future Proof’, the subregional growth strategy), Te Totara Primary School Designation, Waitomo Caves Visitor Information Centre, Westfield Chartwell Extensions, consenting of the proposed Raglan Wharf development and the renewal of resource consents for the Tirau Dairy Factory. The team also provides consent processing services for a range of local authorities and has recently completed numerous Environmental Impact Assessments for coastal planning projects in the Pacific Islands.

The size of the office is also a plus when it comes to interaction and involvement, which can operate on a more informal basis. Senior colleagues are willing to give guidance, provide advice and answer questions.

Our team in the Hamilton office also benefits from the more relaxed lifestyle of New Zealand’s fourth largest city. Travel times are short, leaving you with more free time to enjoy the range of natural beauty spots and recreational activities, and the shops, cafes, pubs and nightlife of the office’s neighbourhood in central Hamilton. At most times throughout the year the office has a social sports team entered in a local competition, whether it's hockey, indoor netball, touch rugby or tennis.
