Our comprehensive Graduate Programme focuses on your personal, professional and technical development. Beca’s career development philosophy is built on one simple principle - at Beca you own your career. We have everything set up for you to drive your own success within a positive and supportive environment. You’ll have the opportunity to experience a wide range of project work, and if you are keen you could work in other Beca offices throughout Australia or overseas.

Our Graduate Programme includes:

Graduate Development Days
Monthly Graduate Forums
Six Monthly Performance Development Discussions
On-the-Job Coaching
Mentoring
Core Skills Training
Site Visits

At the end of the programme, you will be considered a professional in your field and your learning and development will continue in the career path you have chosen, be it management, technical design or business development.

Graduate Development Days

Our graduate development days will see you learning about a wide range of communication, management and other business-related topics that will help you towards professional accreditation – if that’s what you choose to pursue. You’ll also get to know the Beca organisation and have plenty of opportunities to network with both managers and your peers. Our current graduates tell us one of the best things about the development days are the drinks and dinners with their fellow graduates from across the Tasman!

Monthly Graduate Forums

Monthly forums over breakfast or lunch will provide you with the opportunity to hear from a variety of guest speakers as well as meet, compare notes and exchange ideas with your fellow graduates. When you join our Graduate Programme you belong to an established and active graduate community.

Six Monthly Performance Development Discussions

The first couple of years of professional experience following graduation can be a steep learning curve. To guide and support your learning and development during this time, you and your manager will have a formal discussion every six months to review your career aspirations, give you feedback on how you are doing and set objectives for the coming months. These formal discussions will also be supported by many opportunities to get informal feedback and guidance from your manager, mentor and colleagues.

On-the-Job Coaching

At Beca, you’ll be working on real jobs for real clients from the start. You’ll work alongside experienced people who will provide you with on-the-job coaching and guidance while allowing you to take on more responsibility as your knowledge increases. Your on-the-job coaches will vary as you work in different areas, so you’ll have the opportunity to learn from a wide range of experienced people and really accelerate your career!

Mentoring

As a graduate at Beca, you will be provided with a mentor to guide and support you throughout the first few years of your career. Your mentor will be an experienced person who you can use to bounce ideas off, gain inspiration from and provide you with as much career advice and support as you would like.

Core Skills Training

You will attend a number of courses specifically tailored to assist you building your consultancy skills. These courses are designed to help you hone your presentation, report writing and time management skills.

Site Visits

Site visits will be organised for you each year. These visits are designed to give you first hand access to a number of high profile Beca projects in both Australia and New Zealand. You’ll also go on-site to see some of the projects that you have been working on. You could go for a day, a week or longer – if you’re interested just let us know!

Working with Gurus

Beca recognises the value and potential that graduates like you bring to our business, so you will have the opportunity to learn from some of our very own industry gurus. These nationally and internationally recognised leaders can actively guide, mentor and expose you to interesting and challenging projects.

We believe the best place to learn is on the job, so you will be involved in real work from the start. You will be surrounded by, and working with, award-winning professionals and be given responsibility for specific project deliverables. Your contributions on the job will be valuable and you will be respected for what you bring to our team as you build your career and help shape our business.

At Beca you will have access to and support from a professional mentor – someone with whom you can discuss your aspirations, expectations and role. Couple this with a company-wide willingness to support those who take initiative and you will find no better place to prove yourself as a professional.

Overseas Experience

Working at Beca you can combine your desire to travel and build on your career at the same time; we believe that working overseas can really enhance your personal and professional development. We can offer you a number of different opportunities to work overseas – both during the Graduate Programme and beyond.
