Since the 1980s, Tunjungan Plaza has been a landmark in the centre of Surabaya. It’s still growing - Tunjungan Plaza 6 is the latest extension.

Tunjungan Plaza is a vibrant superblock shopping, entertainment, office, residential and hotel development. The latest extension, Tunjungan Plaza 6 (TP6) has twin towers rising out of a 13-level podium. It contains five levels of shops, an eight-level car park, a 25 floor office tower and 38 levels of residential living.

Because we provided engineering services for six projects on this site, we were brought on again to provide mechanical and electrical engineering services for TP6.

TP6 presented some exciting challenges. These included relocating some of the existing Tunjungan Plaza and Sheraton Hotel plant rooms to accommodate TP6. To avoid disrupting these operations, we created detailed plans.

Working across our New Zealand and Indonesia offices, we used plenty of face-to-face communications (such as weekly conference calls and on-site design workshops) to enable detailed coordination. By spending considerable time with our client, PT Pakuwon Jati, we could explain the design drawings and reports thoroughly, ensuring they were in a good position to make effective decisions.
