At Beca we know that hotel and leisure designs need to be tailored to meet local construction techniques to provide cost effective solutions. Our full range of engineering disciplines including seismic and geotechnical specialists and base-isolation design for earthquake resistance have been applied to numerous hotel and leisure projects in New Zealand, South East Asia and China, from small boutique establishments, to expansive resorts and major high-rise inner city business hotels.
We have worked with major hoteliers including Ritz Carlton, Sheraton, Hilton, Marriott, Kempinski, Conrad, Park Lane, Intercontinental, and for numerous hotel developers. Beca brings extensive experience to the design and construction process including lift configurations, security and access control, energy conservation, and water and wastewater treatment. Our specialist services for hotels and leisure complexes include traffic modelling (both people and vehicles), fire safety engineering, specialist lighting, and building ICT technologies.
Beca design teams also include engineers who specialise in air-conditioning, fire protection, electrical, communication, hydraulics etc. We work together to provide coordinated and coherent solutions to the many challenges that are inherent in hotel developments.
Our Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) group provides valuable input to the early stages of projects to assist in the development of solutions that incorporate ESD principles such as energy reclaim, recycling, solar energy capture and passive cooling.
We have developed a design methodology that has now been adopted by many of our clients throughout the world as the benchmark for design decisions and communications. It has been documented in the New Zealand Construction Industry Council’s Design Documentation Guidelines (refer www.nzcic.co.nz). This design process aims at clear, ‘no surprises’ design and construction for clients.
