Peter McGregor

“Beca gives you the opportunity to tap into almost any technical field. If you have a problem to solve there is somebody at Beca you can ask”

Peter McGregor - Project Director.

Peter’s principal role for the last 20 years has been working with clients in the airports market. Initially, Peter was involved in both the pavement and terminal side of airport engineering, but for the last five years he has concentrated on becoming more technically proficient in airport terminals.

When Peter first joined Beca in 1979, he worked in Indonesia as a geotechnical engineer on a nickel mine project. After two years, he relocated to Auckland to work on the earthworks platform and stage 2 rolling mill projects at the NZ Steel site, the latter as an industrial relations manager. Peter then branched into project management and worked a number of projects including the NZI development in Chancery Square and Auckland Airport.

When Peter first started working on the Auckland Airport projects, it was a shadow of what it is today. Peter counts himself fortunate to have been involved in its rapid development to bring it up to an excellent international standard. During the period of Peter’s involvement, Auckland Airport has launched a series of projects including runway repairs, developing the taxiways and runway and both international and domestic terminal expansions and development. As more projects were required, Beca split the management team, with John Marsh managing the airside pavement projects and Peter managing terminal projects to better focus our resources to meet the Airport’s needs.

Peter enjoys the project management aspects of his role because it gives him the opportunity to get involved in all the stages of a project’s lifecycle and to experience the many facets of design and engineering fields for this dynamic market.
