Beca’s multinational presence and award-winning reputation attracted Chee Seng to our Singapore office. He has been with the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) division since joining in January 2008 as an Electrical Engineer. “With office branches worldwide giving exposure to countless opportunities”, he says, “Beca was the ideal catalyst to shape my career path.”
Being involved in several significant building and electric substation designs has enabled Chee Seng to discover the excitement and satisfaction that accompanies an engineering project. He was involved with the concept and detailed designs for 18-storey office and 16-storey hotel developments and a 72 storey residential development, both of which posed challenges of balancing internal M&E requirements with the client’s intention to maximise sellable area.
Chee Seng not only enjoys the communications side of projects which requires extensive co-ordination between the client and other consultants, but also the ability to exercise his creative side while solving problems for clients.
The people at Beca have particularly made his transition into the consultancy industry a straightforward and unproblematic one. “The teamwork, friendliness and care that all levels of staff show undoubtedly make Beca’s people its biggest asset”, he says. Working alongside experienced colleagues, he has been surprised by the support given to him and the extensive knowledge sharing that goes on within the company.

Chee Seng aspires to utilise these openings to develop his mechanical skills, become a Licensed Electrical Engineer and obtain his Professional Engineer Certification.
