“I feel I’m given the space I need to drive forward and get what I want done.”
“I come from a technical background and am a very hands-on person,” says Mark Cotton. “Working at Beca is giving me plenty of new challenges and opportunities to further develop my professional engineering skills.”
Mark enjoys the dynamic nature of the Beca Applied Technologies team, saying: “It’s got good people and thrives on performance.” He’s also motivated by what he sees as a team and a company that values innovation. “Beca’s approach isn’t always to use the tried and true. This lets us offer our clients different options.”
Building a new Availability Modelling Service for his section “from the ground up and developing it into a successful business offering” counts as one of his most rewarding projects. “I was able to take the lead in developing the new service, and it was great to have so much personal responsibility in providing the end solution.”
Beca’s employee-owned status was a big drawcard for Mark. He says: “As a knowledge-based company, your employees are your business - I felt they’d look after their people.” Beca’s other main attraction was its multidisciplinary strength. “Beca has people with a lot of experience in every section. If there is something you need to know, someone here can help you.”
