Beca is home to over 30 Geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists and hydrogeologists who have contributed to many of New Zealand’s engineering landmarks and a growing number of international projects.

Working predominantly in New Zealand’s widely variable and sometimes volatile geological conditions, with the support of an in-house soils testing laboratory, has driven the team to instigate and provide options for resolving to challenges that previously seemed insurmountable or unsustainable.

To build and develop such options requires an unshakeable confidence in the foundation below. While everyone marvels at the structures on or above the ground we are focused on supporting their splendour from below.

The group looks to assist development and whether it is a mine, road, structural or harbour project the drive to find innovative or sustainable solutions is commonplace.

Services include scoping and undertaking site investigations, designing foundations and retaining walls, assessing slope stability, geological mapping, pavement design, hydrogeology and hazard studies. Employed in the early stages of a project we can assist in decisions about feasibility and conceptual design, optimising proposed developments and informing clients of the balance between cost and risk.
